Msg From Lee Nichols:
I realize some of you have been thinking that you could just donate to the Red Cross or the Shaver Fire Department and that is true. But think about this, our group has pooled our donations to target a specific family. We have chosen a young mother named Phoenix, who has two small children ages 3 and 5. They lost everything and are living in a small borrowed trailer on their pre school teacher's property. We're going to give her all the money collected. As I write this we were at $1,800. It would be hard for any disaster relief organization to do that. We cannot help all the victims but we can make a difference for one or two. Ted Fox and I are going to deposit your contributions on Monday and deliver the check that same day so it can be used for Christmas. If you're thinking you would have liked to have been a part of this but it's too late..... it's not! We have guys that are excited and motivated and they will come and pick up your donation or you can drop it off to Ted at his home, several members have already done so. Call any board member and we will get your donation included in this effort. Think of this; our branch raised $1,500 and presented it to the staff of Pardini's within 2 weeks of the shutdown! Now we're donating close to $2,000 to a needy family with children 4 days before Christmas? That's some cool stuff and it should make you proud of our group. We will let you know how it goes. Thank you, Lee Nichols.
From Ted Fox on 12/22: Updated Totals: To date we have collected $1880.00. As Lee mentioned, this has been a very generous donation on the part of quite a few members. We have received donations from some of our other branch members, from Bakersfield, our honorary distant member from Las Vegas, and even our visiting member from Ireland. Thanks to all. As Lee mentioned, anyone else wishing to donate just let us know and we can make the arrangement to pick it up,
