The format that we’ve used the last couple of years has worked out well, allowing maximum participation by all Branches, so we’ll stick with that format. If you recall, each SIR Branch can field as many 6 man teams as they want to participate in the Championship. If a Branch does not have enough golfers to make a team, individuals from a couple Branches can get together to do so. Team scores will be the 5 lowest gross and nets for each team. That way a team member with a bad day score wise won’t feel like he caused his team to lose. Also, if a team shows up with only 5 members on NOV 1 they can still compete.
There will be no entry fee for this Championship, only the normal $5 weekly game entry that gets all golfers into the flighted individual tournament and 2 CTP holes for $ payouts. Awarded at the end of the day will be the two Area 29 perpetual plaques, one for team low gross and the other for low net. Individual results will be compiled to show how your players did in their respective flights along with your team scores and forwarded to each Branch. Perhaps Branch Chairmen will see fit to somehow reward those golfers in your Branches who did particularly well...maybe if only to buy a few beers in celebration?
