SIR CHAPTER 169 EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING MINUTES   Date:  July 11, 2017

 Big SIR, Mike Barabe called the meeting to order at 10:20 am

MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING: Minutes of the June 13 Board Meeting were distributed; MSC Approve and Accept

TREASURE'S REPORT: MSC Approve and accept the report.

MEMBERSHIP: Two new members to be inducted today: Jeff McGraff and Roger Stewart.  Mike reported that the five members that were expected to be transferring into our chapter from another local club, will not be coming because the chapter will not be closing. Within their existing membership, volunteers have stepped forward to take on the Big SIR, Little SIR and other primary officer positions.

TODAYS LUNCHEON ATTENDANCE: 50 have said they will be attending. Members need to be faithful in their attendance of our monthly meetings to maintain the health and spirit of our chapter, while meeting our commitments to Pardini’s who provide the facilities, meal options and beverages.

 PROGRAM OR SPEAKER TODAY: Don Larson, a very popular history instructor for 40 years at Fresno City College.

OLD BUSINESS: As previously noted under Membership, Big SIR Mike reported that contrary to what had been discussed at previous meetings of our Board, Chapter 175 will not be closing its doors. Volunteers have come forward to fill all of the principal leadership positions in the Chapter giving the organization new life.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Mike informed the Board that Chapter 159 is organizing a SIR Horse Race outing at this year’s Fresno Fair. He will find out who is the organizer and contact person for those members who might be interested in attending on Senior Day.

 

  •  Lee Nichols reported that he is working of the development of a slate of nominees for next years SIR 169 leadership positions, including two vacant Director positions.
  •  The continuing process of finding quality speakers for our Luncheon meetings was discussed, noting that some of the other local chapters have committees set up to address this need. It was suggested that 169 might well consider doing this to assist the Little SIRs in that process. It was also suggested that we might do well to promote a sharing among the local chapters of lists of prospective speakers.

SUNSHINE REPORT: Bernie reported that Mel Johnson, James Matt  and Ed Wildgans are experiencing some medical issues and would benefit from receiving our direct encouragement and support.
