MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING: Minutes of the February 14 Board Meeting were distributed; MSC Approve and Accept

TREASURE'S REPORT: MSC Approve and accept the report.

MEMBERSHIP: Applications for membership: None

 TODAYS LUNCHEON ATTENDANCE: 67

PROGRAM OR SPEAKER TODAY: Deborah Torres, Director of Women and Children’s Services at the Fresno Rescue Mission.

OLD BUSINESS:

    • Continuing the discussion initiated at last month’s meeting regarding placing members in INACTIVE STATUS, Bernie explained that his callers feel somewhat uncomfortable calling someone who has month after month declined to participate in our monthly luncheon meetings. It creates an awkward situation for both the caller and the person called when there is either expectation or knowledge that the member will continue to not be attending. He offered that there are some who because of temporary disabilities or responsibilities will return to active membership, but few who are placed on the Inactive register ever come back.   Discussion continued regarding whether Inactive members can still participate in some of the chapter’s events. Allan Baxter pointed out that SIR insurance coverage extends only to active membership and including inactives places the organization at risk. MSC Motion by Ernie Sopp to create both active and inactive rosters and to send a letter to those who have not been attending, notifying them of being designated as Inactive.
  • At the previous meeting, the Big SIR asked for suggestions as to how the Board might go about updating our membership roster and publishing a current Membership Directory. After considering alternative approaches to updating our roster, it was decided that copies of the existing Directory would be placed on each of the tables at today’s luncheon with the request that each of the members in attendance review and update and initial his own information. At the end of the meeting the booklets will be collected and the information entered into an updated file for publishing a new Roster and Directory.

 NEW BUSINESS:

Jim Hiney informed the Board that, as Area 29 Governor, he was discussing with the Big SIRs of Chapters 159, 169, 175 and 179, the prospect of consolidation to address the issue of diminished membership among the Fresno clubs.

Bernie reported that Ed Wildgans has asked to be placed on the Inactive List due to medical issues.

SUNSHINE REPORT: Nothing new to report.

RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED:  Jim Forden, Secretary
