EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING MINUTES Date: September 12, 2017
Big SIR, Mike Barabe called the meeting to order at 10:15 am
ATTENDING: Mike Barabe, Duane Evans, Jim Forden, Jim Hiney, Bernie Hollenbeck, Luis Rodriquez, Ernie Sopp
GUEST(S): Allan Baxter, Director-at-Large; Ed Dorn
MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING: Minutes of the August 8. Board Meeting were distributed; MSC Approve and Accept
TREASURE'S REPORT: MSC Approve and accept the report.
MEMBERSHIP: No new members to induct today.
TODAYS LUNCHEON ATTENDANCE: 51 have said they will be attending.
PROGRAM OR SPEAKER TODAY: Neil Vanderpool, Dean of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts at Fresno City College
OLD BUSINESS:
- SIR Day at the Races. Representative from SIR 159 will be in attendance today selling tickets to this event.
- Mike Barabe and Bernie Hollenbeck gave updates re persons on the Chapter Roster who were either no longer interested or otherwise unavailable and needed to be dropped. Bernie gave Jim Forden his records from the monthly calling list which identify persons whose names need to be removed from our membership roster. Jim will update the membership list and directory, following which Big SIR will reconvene the membership study group to finalize the roster and enable the publishing of a new updated Directory.
- Big SIR reminded the chapter officers that the State SIR organization will be convening a discussion and training meeting for new officers and members of the chapter RAMP teams on October 31rst in Sonora, and that we need to let the organizers know who will be coming from Chapter.
NEW BUSINESS:
- In recognition of the immediate need to finalize and subsequently maintain the Membership Roster, Big SIR suggested that we move ahead with the installation of Jim Hiney as Membership Chairman. MSC to install Jim Hiney at this meeting of the Board.
- Our local chapters have been contacted by a representative from SIR 159 regarding joining together to negotiate a unified contract with Pardinis for luncheon food and facilities. This concept was discussed by the Board with the conclusion that our current contract would not be improved by such a move and perhaps even made less attractive by 159’s efforts.
- As Travel Chaiman, Ed Dorn reported that a trip to this year’s Rose Parade is being offered and distributed a flyer which provided the details of this fun outing.
SUNSHINE REPORT: Bernie reported that Charles Hipwell had passed away, and though Bill Halsey had improved in his rehab program that he had requested to be dropped from our Roster. Further, Don Bidwell is now seriously ill..
