It’s been a tough year for all of us and to some, it doesn’t seem like Christmas. One way to feel better is to do something good for someone else.

Isn’t that what Christmas is all about? COVID 19 has changed our way of life and we haven’t been able to socialize with each other. We haven’t been able to share our thoughts on things. But when I heard of Scott Barcus cutting fire wood to help with the heating costs of the Creek fire victims, I was reminded of their tough year. For the most part we have been
inconvenienced, they lost everything. What a terrible time for them.

So, I remembered our donation drive to help the staff of Pardini’s. In less than 2 weeks our group did something special. Can we do it again? Our club is not supposed to ask for donations, but the shutdown inspired a first donation drive and now the Creek fire has inspired another. The idea quickly became a plan and is now turning into action. We want to make a positive difference in a family’s Christmas, perhaps in their lives.

All of you should know by now that our branch leadership can be trusted. We will not use money collected from your dues. Only money collected for Creek fire relief and ALL of it will be presented. So here are the particulars:  Donations can be cash or check and can be made out to SIR branch 169. Mail them to our newsletter editor, Ted Fox @ 7284 N. Sierra Vista, Fresno, Ca. 93720. Ted will make the deposit and a check issued to one family, maybe 2 depending on the success of our endeavor.

The check will be presented on December 20th so it can actually be used for Christmas. We will notify you when a family has been selected and keep you updated on $300. They say too much analysis causes paralysis so don’t over think this. We cannot help all the fire victims but we can help one or two and in the process help ourselves.

Let’s show what SIR Christmas spirit is! Thanks for your support in all we try to do.
