We had a good turn out for the month of April. Chief Jerry Dyer was an excellent speaker and the meal got a lot of compliments too. Your board has been working hard to make our branch better by making improvements to our necessary procedures. We decided that any member that has not attended a luncheon in a calendar year will be dropped. Since we pay an assessment to the State SIR Organization of $6 a man per year, it is a prudent thing to do to protect our treasury. It will also give us an accurate number of our membership. We keep information on all inactive and dropped members so anyone dropped can be easily reinstated by just showing up. After the last luncheon it was determined that we had 16 members that would be dropped. That took our numbers from 106 down to 90. That means we paid about $100 more than we should have. It also means we all need to start actively recruiting. There are two things that will doom us as a branch, a low number of members or a lack of participation. So please, take ownership of this club and make it your own. Volunteer to serve on the board or help with the newsletter or see if there is something else you're suited for. Our next luncheon is May 14th, our Ladies Day. There are only two times a year the women are invited to join us. So if you can bring your significant other please do so and if you can't please come by yourself. Keep in mind, this is your club!
